The "It's my party and i'll die when I want to" started out as somewhat of a joke when I was working on the melodies for Necessary Evil. With the references on Graveyard Shift, it was just business as usual. I've done it throughout all of our albums and on many songs because it's what I like stylistically and what a lot of fans have mentioned that enjoy about us as well. Similar to the same excitement you feel when theres a guest vocalist on a track. It was that moment of "OH SHIT I KNOW THAT!" and marked an exciting part of the songs I heard it in. I just thought that was a really cool thing to hear, especially if I was a fan of the other artist/lyrics they were referencing and got the reference. I've always loved when bands I listened to either referenced other songs or another artists lyrics etc. He didn't request any changes, I just sent a master list of everything I left open for him to do, and he chose from there. It's usually a really easy process, where we just reach out to the artist either personally or through management/label and they come back with an answer. With Necessary Evil, I had everything all tracked and sent it to Jonathan and he came back and said he would like to sing on it. With Final Dictvm, Tim had written his parts, as well as the majority of the music, and with Bjorn, we wrote the chorus together both melodically and lyrically. In every case except two, (The feature of Bjorn Speed Strid on our song "Puppets 2", and the feature of Tim Skold on our song "Final Dictvm"), it's always been a situation where we've already had the song written, and then we pitch it to the artist. Thanks for asking, and thanks for enjoying the album! I'm so happy I have a chance to go a little more in depth with how this process works. Thank you for all of your very in depth questions. ChrisĮDIT: Hey everyone, thanks again for participating in our first AMA. Ricky is going to take over now for a while, so if you have any questions for him, keep them coming. I've spent the past nearly 5 hours responding to as many of the questions as I could and I just wanted to say thank you so much for presenting me with so many opportunities to go a lot more in depth than I usually get to go with these types of questions and answers. I also have Ricky hanging out too in case anyone would like to ask him any personal questions as well. I'm here! Going to be spending as much time as I can answering your questions throughout the day. Thank you for having me for an AMA! Really looking forward to answering your questions about our new album Graveyard Shift, and any other questions you may have about Motionless In White or myself.
